After an interview it’s important to immediately write down feedback regarding candidates. Typically you’ll talk to many candidates, and it will be difficult to recall which ones your preferred and why. Include in your notes a score for each question, not only for what each candidate said, but how they said it, and the attitude they displayed throughout the interview. Form your decisions using all three criteria. Keep in mind most employees will do as you train them, so the specific answers to questions are not as important as the candidate’s mental agility and attitude. If you note observations and score each of these areas you’ll more easily be able to sort through the dozens of candidates later, even as they start to become a blur.
